Teresita Vincente Sotolongo, Cuban ambassador to Britain, speaks to a packed meeting held in Southall to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution

Comrade Teresita emphasises the benefits that the October Revolution brought to the masses of the third world – and to her country, Cuba, in particular.

She points out that the October Revolution, by bringing into being a new form of society, abolishing (within the territory of the former tsarist empire) the exploitation of man by man and nation by nation, and a new state of the vast masses to safeguard the revolutionary gains of the workers and peasants – the dictatorship of the proletariat – was able not only to win victory, but maintain and consolidate its gains.

The end of the USSR has created an era of blackest reaction, she says, but she goes on to declare her faith in the power of the struggles of the working and toiling masses to overthrow imperialism and win final victory over the blood-soaked ‘new world order’, aka the neoliberal dictatorship of imperialism.

Long live the October Revolution! Long Live socialism!
